The Indian team is practicing hard at the WACA Stadium in Perth ahead of their first BGT 2024 Test to be played at nearby Optus Stadium on November 22. This time India will play a five-Test series in Australia for the first time since the 1991-92 tour.

Indian team has been training hard with the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant batting in match simulations on center wicket in WACA stadium.

Recently, there were reports in Australian media about Indian batters finding the bounce and pace of WACA wickets unnerving and a few suffering some body blows as well.

A report in Sydney Morning Herald claimed that Kohli underwent scans on Thursday but a well-placed source informs that the star India batter is "absolutely fine" and batted without any discomfort in the match simulation.

"Virat Kohli is absolutely fine. He batted in the match simulation without any discomfort and also had a hit in the net after he got out. No concerns there," a source was quoted as saying by Times of India.

On the other hand, KL Rahul had copped a serious blow to his elbow and there were significant concerns about the talented batter. He is likely to open the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal in case Rohit Sharma misses the first Test in Perth.

Rahul got hit on his hand during the match simulation and walked off the pitch. Since it's a lengthy tour, the Indian team management decided to go cautiously, but it's known that there aren't any significant issues there either.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, is still in Mumbai and training hard at the Reliance Corporate Park (RCP) and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) grounds. Rohit and his wife Ritika are expecting their second child and hence there is a delay in the skipper’s departure to Australia.

If Rohit Sharma ends up missing the first Test in Perth, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will captain the Indian team in his place.
