Indian team has begun their practice and net sessions at the WACA Stadium in Perth ahead of the first Test of the BGT 2024 (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) series. This match will be played at the Optus Perth Stadium from November 22 onwards.

Adelaide Oval will host the second Test, which will be played in a day-night style, under the lights from December 6–10. Next, from December 14 to 18, fans will focus on the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.

The concluding part of the series will be the classic Boxing Day Test, which will take place at Melbourne's famous Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30. The Sydney Cricket Ground will host the fifth and final Test from January 3–7, providing an entertaining conclusion to a highly anticipated series.

Meanwhile, ahead of the first Test, the Indian team faced an injury scare as batter Sarfaraz Khan was seen leaving the nets holding his left elbow after copping a blow.

As per Wisden.com, Sarfaraz faces "no issues" with his elbow after the hit.

With captain Rohit Sharma probably missing the Perth Test at Optus Stadium for personal reasons, the 27-year-old Sarfaraz is in contention to play. Two more contenders for Sarfaraz's middle-order slot are young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel and seasoned KL Rahul.

In the recently finished Australia A-India A series, Jurel made an impression by hitting courageous knocks of 80 and 68 in the second game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) under duress.

Sarfaraz Khan made his India Test debut against England at home and since then has impressed with his aggressive way of play and dominance against spinners.

In six Tests, Sarfaraz has scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10, with a century and three fifties in 11 innings and best score of 150.

Sarfaraz is yet to play a Test outside India and will be looking to address concerns around his ability to play on bouncy pitches.
