Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will be in action for India in upcoming Bangladesh Tests.
India and Australia will face each other in a five-Test series later this year in BGT (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) 2024-25.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will be one of the most exciting names that will make his first flight down under for Tests and the Australian cricketers are also looking forward to seeing the young talent play in Australian conditions.
The 22-year-old left-handed batter has had an excellent start to his international career. After hitting 171 on his Test debut against the West Indies in July 2023, the Mumbai-based cricketer totaled 712 runs in a five-match series against England earlier this year.
He is only the second Indian cricketer in history to score over 700 runs in a single Test series. In addition to his Test heroics, Jaiswal has established himself in T20Is. He has scored 723 runs in 23 shortest-format matches.
While Jaiswal has yet to play for India against Australia in Tests or ODIs, Shubman Gill has faced the six-time ODI World Cup winners on numerous occasions across formats.
He made his Test debut against the Baggy Greens in Melbourne on Boxing Day 2020, scoring 272 runs in seven ODIs against them.
In a video posted by Star Sports Tamil on X, when Australian cricketers were asked to choose the Indian cricketer, they believe has the potential to be the next generation superstar, Smith, along with Starc, Hazlewood, and Lyon, supported Jaiswal. At the same time, Travis Head and Cameron Green mentioned Shubman Gill's name.
“Jaiswal could be a generational superstar,” Smith said. “Jaiswal’s probably the next big superstar, I think,” added Starc.
“I think Shubman Gill has the potential to become a superstar,” said Green.
“Well, I think Jaiswal’s, yeah, the next cricket superstar to come from India,” said Carey. “Next generation superstar, I think… Jaiswal,” said Hazlewood. “I believe Jaiswal will be the next generation superstar,” added Lyon.
“Jaiswal, I think, looks like a proper cricketer for all formats. I mean, he and Shubman are perfect,” said Labuschagne.
