Team India head coach Rahul Dravid opened up about his plans for the side to make it to the ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023) final for the second consecutive time, as they are currently in a tricky situation.

The Indian coach said that he is not looking too far ahead and is just taking every Test as it comes, as they now have to win the majority of their six matches to make it to the WTC 2023 final.

Notably, Australia and South Africa are favorites for the finals next year, and their chances will only improve during the ongoing three-match Test series in Australia.

On the other hand, India is in the third spot behind Sri Lanka in the points table, and they have to win at least 5 of their last 6 matches—2 against Bangladesh and 4 Tests at home against Australia—to have any chance of booking a WTC 2023 final berth.

Rahul Dravid in an interview on BCCI.tv: “It is one step at a time. I don't think we can start looking at the sixth one before we start here. We have got to win this one first. We have to play our best cricket to give ourselves a chance and then go to Dhaka and replicate. Just take it as we go.”

He added, “We know we have a challenge on our hands, we have to win a majority of the games we have left in the championship. But we are not going to get there if we don't take the first steps well. We have to focus on this one and then see how the cards fall and then we will see what we have to do in the series against Australia.”
