Bangladesh had a great outing in the second ODI of the three-match series against India which is being played at Mirpur, Dhaka on December 7, 2022. Batting first after winning the toss, Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah helped the hosts recover brilliantly after being 69/6.

Both teams made some changes as Nasum Ahmed replaced Hasan Mahmud in Bangladesh XI, while Umran Malik and Akshar Patel came into the Indian XI replacing Kuldeep Sen and Shahbaz Ahmed respectively.

Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar were all over the Bangladeshi batters in the first 20 overs or so as Najmul Hossain Shanto managed to go past the 20-run mark as Siraj removed the openers Anamul Haque (11) and Litton Das (7), while Washington Sundar accounted for the experienced duo of Shakib Al Hasan (8) and Mushfiqur Rahim (12).

But then Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan got together and added 148 runs for the seventh wicket, as a record for Bangladesh against India in ODIs. Mahmudullah made 77 in 96 balls with 7 fours, as he anchored one end, while Mehidy scored from the other.

Indian bowlers were at sea as they failed to stifle the flow of runs and couldn’t get the duo out until Mahmudullah edged a short ball off Umran Malik to keeper KL Rahul, who dove to his right to take a brilliant one-handed catch.
