Jaiswal failed to make the cut in India's 15-member T20I squad for the Asia Cup.
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has broken silence on his Asia Cup 2025 snub, citing that team selection decisions are taken according to the desired combination and he has taken it in his stride.
India’s Test skipper Shubman Gill returned to the T20I fold as vice-captain. His recall led to Sanju Samson dropping down the batting order and Jaiswal getting demoted to the standbys.
Jaiswal has represented India in 23 T20Is so far, amassing 723 runs at an average of 36.15 with a strike rate of 164.31.
“I don’t think about. It’s all in the hands of selectors. The decisions are taken according to the team combination. I will do whatever I can," Jaiswal said while speaking on Mashable India.
“When my time comes, things will fall into place. I just want to keep working on myself and keep working hard. I always had the belief that I would do something big. I will never stop. I will just keep working hard," he added.
In the same conversation, the southpaw shared his feelings on hitting a hundred in front of his parents during the England Test tour, calling it a ‘special’ moment in his life.
“My ultimate dream is to make the team win the World Cup. The T20 World Cup win in 2024 was truly special for me. We got such a good welcome in India when we came back home," Jaiswal stated.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was last seen in action during a Duleep Trophy encounter against Central Zone, where he scored 4 and 64 in two innings. He will next play for India in the home Test series against the West Indies, slated to start on October 2 in Ahmedabad.
