India and Pakistan will clash on September 21 in Super 4s stage in Dubai.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan managed only 127/9 in 20 overs, with Sahibzada Farhan (40) and Shaheen Afridi (33*) being the main scorers, while Kuldeep Yadav took 3/18 for India. In response, Suryakumar Yadav made 47*, while Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma smashed 31 runs each as India chased down the target in 15.5 overs and won the game by 7 wickets.
Former India batter Robin Uthappa blasted Pakistan for their clueless batting approach and lack of competitiveness.
"The hype will always be there. Yet, ability-wise, Pakistan fans can have all the expectations they want from their team, but they are genuinely living in denial if they think they can be competitive with the current Indian team. This Indian team is head, shoulders, and body above Pakistan," Uthappa said on his YouTube channel.
Pakistan last defeated India in T20Is in the 2022 Asia Cup, while they defeated them in ODIs in the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Uthappa attributed their inability to compete primarily to the management's reorganizations and changes.
"Pakistan is in denial of the fact that they are in a rebuilding phase of their cricket team. For crying out loud, they have changed six coaches since 2023. And if you are going to do something like that, imagine the amount of insecurity that exists within the group. On top of that, they have five openers in the top seven. They are completely unfinished products for now," he explained.
"When I watched the Pakistan team bat yesterday, it just felt like a team that had no control or idea about how they were going to go about getting their runs. There was no method to the madness. There was no process-oriented approach, knowing there will be ebbs and flows in an innings," he added.
Pakistan will next face India in the Super 4 stage in Dubai on September 21.
