Pakistan had threatened to pull out of Asia Cup if ICC doesn't replace Andy Pycroft as match-referee.
They had also written to the ICC demanding the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft for allegedly instructing captains of India and Pakistan not to shake hands during and after the toss.
“The PCB has complained to the ICC regarding violations by the match referee of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws about the Spirit of Cricket. The PCB has demanded the immediate removal of the match referee from the Asia Cup,” Naqvi, who is the PCB and ACC chief, wrote on X.
However, now, it has been reported that the Pakistan team might not act on their threat and pull out of the Asia Cup 2025.
"It is very unlikely that the PCB will pull out from the Asia Cup. If we do that, the ICC, led by Jay Shah, will put heavy sanctions on the PCB, and this is something our board cannot afford. The financial situation post the Champions Trophy, where all the stadiums were renovated, is not good," a PCB source told Times of India.
Meanwhile, the ICC has also rejected PCB’s demand to replace match referee Andy Pycroft from the ongoing Asia Cup.
On Tuesday, India and Pakistan will train at the ICC Academy. The two teams will be at the same location to prepare for their next games, despite the different time schedules. Pakistan will train from 8 to 11 p.m. local time, while India will train from 6 to 9 p.m.
India had already earned a spot in the Super 4s when the UAE defeated Oman on Monday. On Wednesday, Pakistan will play the UAE in a match that they must win. On Sunday, Pakistan will face India once more if it defeats the United Arab Emirates.
