India will play five T20Is on the tour of Australia, starting October 29.
The BCCI Men’s Senior Selection Committee on Saturday (October 4) announced India’s 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Australia.
The Men in Blue are scheduled to tour Australia for a high-octane limited-overs series, consisting of three ODIs and five T20Is. The T20I series is slated to begin from October 29.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side, with Shubman Gill to serve as his deputy. India’s Asia Cup hero and left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma features in the squad.
The T20I side includes a dynamic middle-order, comprising Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, and Shivam Dube. Ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya (quadriceps injury) wasn’t available for selection, which led to Nitish Kumar Reddy finding a spot in the lineup.
The bowling department features youth and variety with Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav and all-rounders like Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.
