Australia's pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has given the home team an injury scare ahead of the last day's play at Gabba which will decide who lifts the coveted Border-Gavaskar trophy. India need 324 more runs in a minimum of 98 overs (weather permitting) while Australia need to bowl out the visitors to win the series. India can retain the trophy even if the match ends in a draw as they are current holders.

Starc was seen grabbing his hamstring after bowling his only over in India's second innings on the fourth day, but leading batsman Steve Smith was hopeful the pacer would be able to overcome the injury and do his work on the last day in Brisbane.

"I am not sure (about it), to be honest with you. Like, I saw the same thing, walking back, (Mitchell) grabbing at his right hamstring.

"I'm sure he'll get assessed by the medical staff and one thing I know about Mitchell is he's tough and he's played through some injuries before and got the job done, so he will be hopefully good to go tomorrow," said Smith in his virtual press conference.

30-year-old Starc has not been at his best in the series, picking up only 11 wickets as of today, at an average of 34.27 but Australia would hope he is fit enough to get through his overs as a bowler short would dent their chances of winning the Test against a resolute Indian team who have fought extremely hard in the series.
