Rahane scored 104* at the end of second day's play in the Boxing Day Test.
India's stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane gave India a much-needed lead in the second Test with his magnificent ton in the first innings. Australia are looking under pressure as India scored 277/5 at the end of the second day.
Rahane's innings of 104* came when the team was struggling after the wicket of Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara in the first session. He stood there trying to stitch a partnership with some support from the other end.
After Pant and Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja joined Rahane and they put up a partnership of 104* runs together. India are currently in a good position with a lead of 82 runs.

Rahane was lauded by the ex-England captain Michael Vaughan for his sensible knock under a tough condition.
Not only the pitch was helping the bowlers, but even the pressure of leadership and India's recent score of 36 all-out would also be striking Rahane's mind.
Former Australia cricketer and commentator for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Shane Warne was also impressed with the handy innings from skipper Rahane.
