Cummins' inswinger hit the stumps sending Agarwal back for 17 runs.
Mitchell Starc gave Australia the perfect start by removing Prithvi Shaw in the first over of the match itself. Shaw couldn’t negotiate a quick in-dipper from Starc and had his stumps shattered, leaving India one down.
Then Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara negotiated a brilliant spell of bowling from Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood, adding 32 runs for the second wicket. Agarwal looked solid in his defense and played some shots as well, hitting two boundaries in his 40-ball 17, before tragedy struck.
Pat Cummins bowled a slightly full delivery which came into the batsman and while Agarwal was in process of defending it, the ball snuck through the gap between the bat and the pad and shattered his stumps.

While India had declared its playing XI a day before the match commenced, Australia gave a Test debut to Cameron Green and has Matthew Wade opening the innings with Joe Burns.
