AUS v IND 2020-21: Virat Kohli and Team India fined for slow over-rate in the 3rd T20I

India won the T20I series 2-1, despite losing the 3rd T20I in SCG.

The Indian cricket team’s woes with the over rate continued as they were once again fined by the match official after the completion of the third T20I of the series in Sydney on December 8. India lost the match but won the series 2-1.

ICC match referee David Boon imposed the sanction after India was ruled to be one over short of the target on Tuesday after time allowances were taken into consideration. They were fined 20% of their match fees.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the ICC said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Captain, Virat Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing,” the statement read further.

On-field umpires Rod Tucker, Gerard Abood, TV umpire Paul Wilson and fourth umpire Sam Nogajski leveled the charge.

India was previously docked during the first ODI of the three-match series, when they took 4 fours to bowl 50 overs, leading to sharp criticism from all quarters of the cricket fraternity.
