Zaheer also highlighted an area that Hardik needs to work on.
Hardik Pandya has seemed a pretty mature and a much more stable cricketer since he became a father and returned to cricketing duties since IPL 2020. Even on the Australian tour, Hardik has been one of the best batsmen across both teams.
The all-rounder has not been able to roll his arm over as often as he would've liked to but has managed to play the role of a finisher perfectly well. Hardik Pandya has taken over the finisher's job quite well regardless of whether the team is setting up totals or chasing them down.
AUS v IND 2020-21: "Time is ripe" Md. Kaif wants in-form Hardik Pandya in India's Test squad
Former Indian cricketer and bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians, Zaheer Khan believes that the sense of calmness Hardik has got makes him a very dangerous batsman. He further went on to state that the cricketer is going to create a reputation for himself.
Zaheer Khan told Cricbuzz, "He’s just so relaxed and not really frustrated by the dot balls if there are any at that stage. Just because of the belief he has. If he can hit six at any stage and he waits for that bowler to make that error. He makes sure that the bowler is under pressure."
"More and more he is going in his career, you know, he’s going to create a reputation like this which is going to be very hard for any bowler to deal with at that stage if he is at the crease," he added.
The former left-arm pacer said, "You know the kind of batting which he is doing, add his bowling to it and his fielding. And then, he is a great asset to have – a match-winner. Something which he should always consider to work on is his bowling and provide that kind of a balance to the side."
"He is definitely used this time at the moment to turn things around with regards to his batting. He is going in confidence and turning out to be a great impact player at this level," he concluded.
