Gill has been picked to play the ODIs and Tests in Australia.
Shubman Gill has had a wonderful couple of years with the bat across formats at the domestic level and has earned a place in India's national side for the ODI and Test series against Australia.
He was exceptional for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) too in 2020. Gill was the highest run-getter for KKR in the tournament with 440 runs in 14 innings.

The selectors were impressed with this performance and would be hoping for the youngster to continue the same run for India. To ensure that he is in the frame of mind, the seniors in the side have to keep talking to Gill.
Indian coach Ravi Shastri was seen doing just that in Australia ahead of the ODI series. Shastri posted a picture of the duo having a conversation during one of the practice sessions.
He captioned the picture, "Nothing beats a good conversation about the great game #LoveCricket #AUSvIND - with @RealShubmanGill"

Shubman Gill has played just 2 ODIs for India but hasn't managed to find his feet yet. With just 16 runs at the international level, things can only take a turn for the better for the 21-year-old batsman.
While the departure of Virat Kohli after the first Test might not be the best news for Team India, it might give Gill an opportunity to make his debut in the longest format of the game.
