Everyone anticipated this West Indies side to struggle badly, but the way Pakistan annihilated them in the first T20I was way too barbaric. In a one-sided relentless barrage, the hosts took down the Caribbean lads brutally and registered their biggest victory in the shortest format in terms of runs. This match also marked the return of Karachi, who hosted an International game nearly after a decade. The stage will be set again tonight as the matches are scheduled on back-to-back days and the Caribbean boys will like to pull it back to push the series into the decider. However for that to happen, they will have to punch well above their weight.

Best economical pick – Debutant Hussain Talat played some amazing shots and that would’ve boosted his confidence so much. He’s one to watch for the future. Talat became only the 3rd Pakistan player to receive the man of the match award on T20I debut. He scored 41 runs with bat and picked up 1 wicket as well.

Top captains & vice captains – Batting first, Pakistani openers were severe on the inexperienced bowling contingent. Dashing southpaw Fakhar Zamanand the ever-reliable source of runs Babar Azam gave their side an ideal start and added 46 runs in 5 overs. Although both players fell in a span of 13 balls, Debutant Hussain Talat and skipper Sarfraz ensured the momentum didn’t slip away.  Fakhar Zaman smashed 39 runs off just 24 balls with 6 fours and 1 sixes to his name. The senior player did manage to provide a cracking finish, dismantling the bowlers to all parts of the ground. It was an absolute exhibition and carnage from Shoaib Malik, who clobbered 37 runs off just 14 balls. Just when people felt quick wickets of Hussain Talat and the skipper would prevent them from scoring anything above 200, Malik ensured they got past that mark.

Smart pick – Samuel Badree has been one of the most sought-after bowlers across the globe, especially the T20 format. He has dished out immaculate line and lengths in the shortest format, and has been a fulcrum of whichever team he has represented. He has to bring forth his guile and trajectory if Pakistan are to topple the hosts.

Cautious Pick – After a poor performance in PSL West Indies wicket keeper batsman Denesh Ramdin Came back to Pakistan with West Indies team but his fortune did not change as he got out without troubling the scorers. He is a player who is failing again and again, so pick him in your Fantasy team with your own risk.

My XI – Fakhar Zaman (Captain), Shoaib Malik (Vice-Captain), Husain Talat, Babar Azam, Kesrick Williams, Mohammad Amir, Sarfraz Ahmed, Jason Mohammed, Andre Fletcher, Hasan Ali, Samuel Badree
