Cricket in Pakistan hasn’t had an auspicious time over the past one decade. Terrorist attacks and political turmoil have sparked from time to time owing to which cricketers from around the globe are reluctant to visit the war-stricken nation. However, ever since Zimbabwe’s tour of the nation in 2015, cricket is gradually finding its way to Pakistan. West Indies to play a three-match T20 International series starting from April 1. Pakistan have the opportunity to firm up their position at the top of the ICC T20I Team Rankings. A 3-0 victory will take the Sarfraz Ahmed-led side four points clear of Australia. The Windies, who are currently in fifth position with 115 points, will slip to 111 points and seventh position. In case the Jason Mohammed-led side is victorious by a 3-0 margin, they will overtake Pakistan with the teams finishing on 122 and 120 points, respectively.

Best economical pick – Fahim Ashraf was the best bowler of PSL and undoubtedly his team won the tournament as it is the bowlers who set up the victories for their sides. He scalped 18 wickets in 12 matches while conceding 7.75 runs per over which is quite acceptable as he bowled the most difficult overs most of the times.

Top captains & vice captains – Babar Azam, the best player of Pakistan across formats, was at the top of the charts in PSL with his consistent showings in the tournament. He was the highest run-getter for his team Karachi Kings with 402 runs in 12 matches at a decent strike rate 122. In the last series against West Indies he made fun of their bowling, he would like to do the same in this series too. Fakhar Zaman was excellent for the Qalandars in the PSL, forming a brilliant opening partnership with skipper Brendon McCullum. He clobbered 277 runs at an impressive strike-rate of 147.34 in 10 matches but failed to help his side reap good results. As far as Zaman is concerned, this home series against West Indies would certainly be a stepping stone for greater things to come.

Smart pick – Marlon Samuels is one of the senior most players in the Windies lineup and his presence in the team for this series is very crucial. The 37-year-old registered 287 runs in 7 games which included 3 half-centuries the World Cup Qualifiers which shows that he is in solid form.

Cautious Pick – Ahmed Shehzad failed totally in the whole PSL but surprisingly retained his place in the Pakistan T20 Squad. This series might have his last series to give performances otherwise a lot of youngsters are in the line to replace him.

My XI – Babar Azam (Captain), Fakhar Zaman (Vice-Captain), Fahim Ashraf, Marlon Samuels, Keemo Paul, Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan,Sarfraz Ahmed, Jason Mohammed, Andre Fletcher, Hasan Ali
