South Africa defeated England by just 1 run in a last over thrilling first T20I in East London and took 1-0 lead in three match's series.

England won the toss and opted to bowl first. Captain Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma gave a good start of 48 runs in 4 overs but de Kock couldn't convert his start into a big knock and later Bavuma and van der Dussen kept England at sea and both took score to over 100 runs but after their dismissals, South Africa couldn't score quick runs and finished on 177/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, England lost Jos Buttler cheaply but Jason Roy continued to smash African bowlers and brought up his fifty. At one stage England was 132/2 and needed only 46 runs from 35 balls to win but Roy got out and England started to struggle and lost Joe Denly and Ben Stokes. Captain Eoin Morgan smashed Hendricks for two fours and one six in the 19th over and completed his fifty but in the same over he got out and England was again in a bit trouble.

In the last over England needed 7 runs which Lungi Ngidi defended successfully and helped his team to clinch this match by 1 run.
