New Zealand beat Bangladesh by an innings and 52 runs in the first Test match at Seddon Park in Hamilton and took a 1-0 lead in the three Tests series. Earlier New Zealand won the toss and opted to field first on a green surface but Tamim Iqbal gave a brisk start to Bangladesh and kept smashing all New Zealand bowlers but from the other end, they kept losing wickets and bowled out for just 234 runs in their first innings.

Tamim Iqbal scored 128 runs of them and Neil Wagner took 5 wickets for the hosts. In reply, Tom Latham and Jeet Raval gave a great start of 254 runs for the first wicket. And both the batsmen also brought up their respective hundreds. Raval scored 132 runs while Latham played 161 runs knock. After their dismissals, t was Kane Williamson's turn who built partnerships with every batsman and helped New Zealand to post a record total of 715/6d with a lead of 481 runs and also scored his second double hundred of Test career.

In their second innings Bangladeshi openers Tamim Iqbal and Shadman Islam gave a good 88 runs start but Islam couldn't convert his start and got out off Neil Wagner bowling. Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun too couldn't do much and perished cheaply and Tamim Iqbal also fell short of his second hundred of Test and Bangladesh were reduced to 126/4.

Soumya Sarkar and captain Mahmudullah put up a great fight and added 235 runs for the fifth wicket and both the batsmen also brought up their hundreds but just before Tea break on day four Trent Boult removed Sarkar for a well made 149 runs and broke this stand and after that Bangladesh fell flat and eventually bowled out for 429 runs. Captain Mahmudullah also played an awesome knock of 146 runs.
