South Africa will begin their 2018/19 home season with a three match ODI series against Zimbabwe. The first match will be played at Diamond Oval in Kimberley. South Africa will miss their captain Faf du Plessis and opener Hashim Amla who have been ruled out due to injuries and in Faf's absence, JP Duminy will captain.

This series is a good opportunity for South Africa to test their bench strength as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is just 8 months away. Dale Steyn will also be playing his first ODI after a long time. On the other hand, Zimbabwe will be eager to put up a good fight after a disappointing series against Pakistan in this July. The return of Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine and Kyle Jarvis will boost their confidence.
