South Africa continued their dominance over Sri Lanka in the ODI series as they defeated the hosts by 4 wickets in the second ODI match at Dambulla and took a lead of 2-0 in the five-match series.

Captain Angelo Mathews opted to bat again but Lungi Ngidi gave a perfect start to South Africa as he took 2 wickets in his first over and after that Sri Lanka couldn't come back and scored an average total of 244/8 with the help of captain Mathews' 79* and Niroshan Dickwella's 69 runs.

In chase Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla gave a brisk start to their team and added 91 runs for the first wicket in just 14 overs. Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy also scored valuable runs and helped their team to chase down the target in the 43rd over. Quinton de Kock was named Man of the Match for his 87 runs off 78 balls knock.

9 - This was Sri Lanka's 9th consecutive loss in ODIs at home. Since their last ODI win against Zimbabwe in July 2017 they lost last 2 games of that series, 5 ODIs against India and now first 2 ODIs of this series against South Africa. 

10 - This was South Africa's 10th consecutive win over Sri Lanka in ODIs. Last time they lost an ODI to Sri Lanka at Pallekele in 2014. 

17 - Suranga Lakmal became the 17th bowler to take 100 ODIs wickets for Sri Lanka. He needed 77 matches to achieve this milestone of 100 ODIs wickets. 

27 - Sri Lanka has lost 27 out of 36 ODIs since January 2017 - the most ODIs losses for a team since then.
