Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 199 runs in the second Test match at Colombo and clinched the Test series 2-0. Sri Lankan openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Danushka Gunathilaka scored fifties each in both innings and helped their team to post a total of 338 and 275/5d. And South Africa as usual couldn't survive against the spin trio of Herath, Perera and and Dananjaya and were bowled out for just 124 runs in the first innings.

Though in the fourth innings of the match, Theunis de Bruyn (101) and Temba Bavuma (63) put up a fight but their efforts were not enough to save the game for South Africa and eventually they were bowled out for 290 and lost the game by 199 runs and series by 2-0. Dimuth Karunaratne was named Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series.

283 - Runs conceded by Keshav Maharaj in this Test match - the most by a South African bowler in a Test match. The previous most were 260 runs by Imran Tahir against Australia at Adelaide in 2012.
