Afghanistan decimated Bangladesh by 45 runs in the first T20I match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dehradun and took a 1-0 lead in this three-match T20I series. Bangladesh, after winning the toss and opting to field first, restricted Afghanistan to 167/8 but in the chase, they kept losing to wickets regularly and got all out for just 122 runs in 19 overs and suffered a huge defeat. Rashid Khan  (3/13) was named Man of the Match for a match-winning bowling performance.

1 - This was Afghanistan's first-ever win over Bangladesh in T20I cricket.

2 - Rashid Khan became the second Afghanistani player to take 50 wickets in T20I format after Mohammad Nabi (63).
