Danielle Wyatt, top order batter of England's Women cricket team, has expressed her gratitude to Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) and Indian Premier League (IPL) to take a big step encouraging Women's cricket in the country to host IPL-style T20 match during the ongoing IPL 21018.

Wyatt, who is one of the biggest Women admirers of Indian captain Virat Kohli, was also part of the T20 match between Supernovas and Trailblazers that has played just before the first Qualifier of the IPL 2018 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 

There has been a lot of pressure on BCCI to start T20 style tournament for Women’s Cricketer to unearthing raw talent in the country after they have improved notably over the years, especially after the 2017 World Cup, where they finished as runner-up, lost maiden title to England.

Meanwhile, the T20 match was similar to Men’s IPL match, as there were four overseas players in the squad –Smriti Mandhana’s Trailblazers had the likes of Alyssa Healy, Jhulan Goswami, and Jemimah Rodrigues, while the Supernovas were strengthened by Ellyse Perry, Mithali Raj, and Meg Lanning.

Maybe, it is the right time to introduce franchise-based T20 tournament in the country in a bid to take a little step towards developing Women’s cricket in the country.

Wyatt, who was part of the victorious side Supernovas, went on her official Twitter handle on 22 May to thank the BCCI and IPL for the initiative to host first-ever Women's T20 Challenge. Her post reads, “Supernovas. What a great day. Thankyou @bcci & @IPL .. hopefully, this is just the start..”
