WATCH: CCTV footage of Kusal Mendis' car accident which caused death of a 64-year-old man released

Mendis has been arrested by the North Police of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka cricketer Kusal Mendis met with an unfortunate accident near the 13th km post in the Horethuduwa area in Panadura, Colombo. He has been arrested by North Police and the 64-year-old cyclist his car had hit was pronounced dead.

A CCTV footage of the accident which took place at around 5 AM on Sunday has come out in media. Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror released the footage of the brutal accident. The 25-year-old cricketer is in police custody and will be presented before the Panadura Magistrate within the next 48 hours.

In the video, the severity of the accident can be assumed with the damage to Kusal’s car and the cycle due to the clash.

“Cricketer Kusal Mendis was arrested following an accident involving his vehicle that killed a man at Horethuduwa, Panadura early this morning.”, wrote Daily Mirror on their Twitter account.
