Shikhar Dhawan, who hasn't been in the greatest of form recently had another lukewarm match for Delhi against Maharashtra, where the southpaw scored 24 off 22 balls in the Super League encounter of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Delhi after setting a target of 168, won the match by 77 runs after bowling out Maharashtra for just 90.

As per a report in The Hindu, Dhawan injured his left knee while batting during the match on Thursday. The Indian opener scampered to get back to his crease and put in full-fledged dive. It later emerged that a piece of wood in his batting pads tore through his knee and he only realised he was bleeding once he returned to the dressing room after he was dismissed. Later, he had multiple stitches on his knee and did not take the field.

The injury is not serious and he is likely to be fit to play in a few days as stated by the batsman on his Twitter account. He also posted few pictures of himself in the hospital and wrote a caption that suggests he remains happy and positive despite the setback.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who underwent a back surgery recently that is likely to keep him out of action for months, took a friendly jibe at Dhawan.

There was some good news in store for Dhawan as a reward for his positivity as he was named in India's T20I and ODI squad to face West Indies in December, despite some doubts over his spot after poor run of scores in limited overs cricket since the World Cup where he fractured his thumb during his match-winning ton against Australia.
