On the fifth anniversary of Rohit Sharma's barbaric innings against Sri Lanka, ICC reminded Sri Lankan fans how costly a dropped catch could be. Rohit had smashed 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens on November 13, 2014.

Rohit would have been dismissed on just four runs had Thisara Perera grabbed an easy catch at third man. He had tried to come down the wicket and hit a six, but the Indian opener got an outside edge and ball went towards Perera for an easy catch, but he couldn't grab it.

The dropped catch turned out to be among the most expensive drops in cricket history.

This was not the only time Perera's drop has turned out to be crucial. Back in 2017, during Champions Trophy, he had put down the then Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed on 38.

Sarfaraz went on to win the game for Pakistan with his 61-run innings. Not to forget, Pakistan entered semi-finals only because of the win in that game and also won the final against India.
