AFG v WI 2019: WATCH- Nicholas Pooran’s dubious act with the ball during the 3rd ODI

Pooran was the star of West Indies' win in second ODI against Afghanistan in Ekana Stadium.

Pooran was caught on camera using nails on the ball | ScreengrabNicholas Pooran, the left-handed batsman from the West Indies team has been their best batsman along with Shai Hope since the 2019 ICC World Cup where he made the world sit up and take notice of his immense talent with the bat.

He had made the right kind of noises during the CPL and IPL 2019 which earned him a place in Windies squad for the World Cup, where he was one of the best batsmen of the tournament. He recently starred for West Indies in their win over Afghanistan in the second ODI at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Pooran slammed a 50-ball 67 as West Indies beat Afghanistan by 47 runs after posting 247/9 on the board. The win not only propelled Jason Holder & Co. to seal the three-match series but also helped them register their first ODI series win since 2014.

However, during the same match, he was caught on camera doing something that the ICC might not look at kindly, as the video of Pooran is going viral on the internet. The Trinidadian star can be seen scratching the seam of the ball with his nails while rubbing it vigorously on the sleeve of his pants.

Here is the video:

Meanwhile, ever since the sandpapergate involving Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft where the trio conspired to change the condition of the ball to gain an advantage during the Cape Town Test match in 2018 against South Africa, the ICC doesn’t let offenders who do something illegal with the ball get away lightly. The said scandal led to Smith and Warner to be banned for one year and Bancroft for nine months and affected the Australian cricket and fans.
