Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri paid a fitting tribute to his mother on the occasion of her 80th birthday on Wednesday (November 6), calling her his biggest critic and inspiration.
Taking to Twitter, Shastri, former India captain, shared a photo of himself with his mother – Lakshmi Shastri to wish on her 80th birthday with a sweet message.
He wrote on his official Twitter handle: “To my biggest critic and inspiration. Happy 80th Mom. In singles from here on. No rush. God bless.”
In the adorable picture, the two can be seen standing close to each other with Shastri’s hand around his mother who looked elegant in a mauve saree with a golden border, while India head coach sported a casual look, wearing a round-neck t-shirt in brown color with khaki knee-length shorts.
Noteworthy, Shastri’s contract as the head coach of the Indian team was extended in August till the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Under his tenure, India achieved some historic victories and has continued to do well both at home and away.
At the moment, Shastri is guiding Men in Blue in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, who defeated the hosts in Delhi while India are looking for a fresh start in Rajkot where they will play the second match on 7 November.
The two teams will also play 2 Tests as part of ICC World Test Championship from 14 November.
