PAK v SL 2019: WATCH - Misbah-Ul-Haq snaps at journalist; sarcastically answers Pakistan lost due to him

Misbah-Ul-Haq is the head coach and chief selector of Pakistan team, taking over from Mickey Arthur.

Misbah and Sarfaraz Ahmed during the press conferenceThe no.1 ranked T20I team in the world, Pakistan was humbled by a second-string Sri Lanka team in their own backyard, as they were whitewashed in the 3-match T20I series that was played in Lahore altogether.

Sri Lanka had earlier lost the ODI series, but came back strongly under the leadership of Dasun Shanaka and unearthed stars like Oshada Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Wanindu Hasaranga amongst others in the absence of first-choice players who had refused to tour to Pakistan.

The Pakistani team looked out of sorts in all the three matches and their decision to bring back Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad backfired spectacularly despite backing form both captain Sarfaraz and coach Misbah. Akmal made two first-ball ducks and Shehzad managed 17 runs in two matches he got. However, their talented batting lineup was exposed brutally as Babar Azam failed to make runs in the series.

But this didn’t let Misbah tone down his sarcasm during the post-match presentation. When a journalist questioned him that a team that has been no.1 in the format for quite some time, didn’t play as their status does, Misbah snapped at the journo and said, "If you want to blame me, fine. I have been just 10 days on the job and yes about changes, I asked a right-hand batsman to start batting left-handed and told a left-hand bowler to start bowling right-hand, right.”

Here is the video of Misbah snapping after hearing the question:

However, on a serious note, Misbah took responsibility of Pakistan losing the series. He said, “Yes, I take responsibility for the series defeat. It is very disappointing and we played poorly. But this is the same team which made us number one. Same players who have been playing for around three years.
