Indian cricket fraternity sends birthday wishes to Zaheer Khan as he turns 41

Former India cricketer Zaheer Khan is celebrating his 41st birthday today (October 7). He is widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers to have come out from a country known for producing legendary batsmen.

Zaheer played 92 Test matches for India, claiming 311 wickets at an average of 32.94 with the best figure of 7/87. During his illustrious career, the left-arm pacer also helped India to win Test series in England and New Zealand.

In the limited-overs format, Zaheer bagged 282 wickets in 200 ODI matches while in 17 T20Is he had picked up 17 wickets. He was one of the top performers in India’s 2011 World Cup triumph at home. With 21 scalps to his name, the paceman had finished the showpiece event as joint highest wicket-taker along with Shahid Afridi.  

Zaheer Khan bid adieu to international and first-class cricket in 2015. He was appointed as Mumbai Indians’ director of cricket operations this year and will play the same role in the upcoming edition of IPL as well.

As the celebrated speedster entered in the 42nd season of his life, wishes poured in for him from the Indian cricketing fraternity.
