Sourav Ganguly has become the recent Indian cricketer to hit out at Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for speaking of hatred in his UN General Assembly speech.

"Viru .. I see this and I am shocked ..a speech which is unheard of .. a world which needs peace, Pakistan as a country needs it the most .. and the leader speaks such rubbish ..not the Imran khan the cricketer world knew ..speech in UN was poor," Ganguly replied on Virender Sehwag's Twitter post in which an American anchor humiliated Imran for his comments on live television.

Sehwag had shared the video on Twitter with the caption reading: "You sound like a welder from the Bronx, says the anchor. After the pathetic speech in the UN a few days ago , this man seems to be inventing new ways to humiliate himself."

Last week, Imran while speaking at the UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) had issued threats of a conventional war between Pakistan and India – the two nuclear-armed countries.

"If a conventional war starts between the two countries, anything could happen. A country seven times smaller than its neighbour what will it do - either surrender or fight for its freedom. My belief is we will fight and when a nuclear-armed country fights till the end, it will consequence far beyond the borders. I am warning you. It's not a threat but worry about where are we heading. If this goes wrong, you hope for the best but prepare for the worst," he had said.

On Wednesday (October 2), Indian cricketers Mohammad Shami, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan also lambasted Prime Minister Khan for his hateful speech.

Khan had also painted a chilling picture of bloodshed and terrorism as he attacked India in his extempore speech that lasted more than the 15 minutes allotted to him.

Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin, who had played against Imran in the 1980s and early 1990s, also condemned his speech.
