Onam is a big harvest festival celebrated in Kerala

The state of Kerala is celebrating the joyous harvest festival of Onam today (September 11). It is a traditional ten-day harvest festival that marks the homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali.

Malayali People decorate the ground in front of their houses with flowers arranged in beautiful patterns to welcome the king. The festival is also celebrated with new clothes, feasts served on banana leaves, dancing, sports, games, and snake boat races.

On this special day, veteran India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh extended Onam greetings to the people of Kerala and his former teammate Sreesanth.

Taking to Twitter, Bhajji specifically tagged Sreesanth and wrote: “Happy Onam to all Malayali friends.. specially to my friend @sreesanth36 .. have a good one”.

It is worth mentioning here that Harbhajan had landed himself into a huge controversy after he slapped S Sreesanth during one of the matches in the Indian Premier League. The incident took place in a match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab back in 2008.

Apparently, Harbhajan had got angry over Sreesanth's aggressive send-off to Mumbai batsmen in that particular clash. Incidentally, Singh had led MI in that match in the absence of regular skipper Sachin Tendulkar.

After KXIP’s victory, Sreesanth came out of the field and then Harbhajan vented his frustration on the speedster. Although the clip of the entire incident isn’t there, people watched the match did witness a fuming Harbhajan and an emotional Sreesanth breaking down on the TV screen. The event is now popularly known as IPL "slapgate."

But the duo has forgotten the saga and now shares a healthy rapport. Both of them often interact with each other on social media as well.
