Indian Cricket fraternity condoles demise of BJP leader Arun Jaitley at the age of 66

Arun Jaitley held the portfolios of Finance and Defense in Narendra Modi government from 2014-2019.

Arun Jaitley was 66 years oldThe ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the whole Indian political scenario suffered their second biggest setback, as former finance minister and one of the most beloved leaders Arun Jaitley passed away on August 24 in AIIMS, New Delhi. He was 66 years old.

Earlier on August 6, former foreign minister and former Delhi CM Sushma Swaraj had succumbed to a massive heart attack and a few days later on August 9, Jaitley was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and was later put on life support. The hospital in an official press release confirmed the demise of BJP leader, who held the finance and defense portfolios and often acted as the chief trouble-shooter of the government.

He had not contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections citing health concerns as he had undergone a kidney transplant in 2018. A lawyer by profession, Arun Jaitley also served on the Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet. Between 2009 and 2014, when the BJP sat in the Opposition benches, Arun Jaitley served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

Jaitley was also associated with the BCCI and served the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) as president between 1999-2013. Therefore his demise left the Indian cricket fraternity in shock.
