As Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli completed 11 years in International cricket on Sunday, 18th August, the stylish batsman reflected back on the journey by sharing a throwback picture of him from his debut match and a heartwarming message on social media.

Taking to his official social media handles, the 30-year-old has also expressed his gratitude for all the success he has been able to achieve on the field on the occasion of the 11th anniversary in international cricket wearing national colors.

He wrote on Twitter on Monday, “From starting as a teenager on the same day in 2008 to reflecting on the journey 11 years after on this present day in 2019, I couldn't have dreamt of the blessings God has showered me with. May you all get the strength and power to follow your dreams and always follow the right path. #forevergrateful”

After leading India to ICC U-19 World Cup title in 2008, the young Delhi-lad was inducted into the senior squad in the same year. However, Kohli could not shine brightly on his debut against Sri Lanka, as he managed to score just 18 runs and ended his first year of international cricket without a hundred.

In the next year, the right-hander hit a ton in 2009 and it was the beginning of Kohli-era as he has never looked back since then and now, he is widely regarded as one of the best batsmen in the game.

The dashing batsman has been on a record-breaking spree, as the skipper recently became the first batsman to score 20,000 international runs in a decade during India’s tour of West Indies.

At the moment, Kohli has the second most number of tons (43) to his name in One Day International cricket and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (49). He is currently the No.1 ranked batsman in both ODI and Test cricket.

Noteworthy, Kohli has amassed 11520, 6613, and 2369 runs in 239 ODIs, 77 Tests and 70 T20Is respectively for the country so far.
