Ravi Shastri has retained his position as India's chief coach and will be along with the team for the next two years.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy on Friday (August 16) re-appointed Shastri as the head coach, a decision that was expected given his successful stint with the team in the last couple of years.

After his re-appointment, former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson, who had also applied for the same job, congratulated Shastri with a heart-warming tweet.

“Congratulations @RaviShastriOfc on your reappointed as @BCCI Head Coach. Wish you and the team the best for the coming seasons....,” Hesson wrote.

In reply, Shastri tweeted: “Thanks a ton, Mike. Much appreciated. Keep the coaching flag flying.”

Shastri was appointed as chief coach in July 2017 after Anil Kumble’s tenure ended prematurely in controversial circumstances. Under his stint, India won 13 out of 21 Tests, 43 out of 60 ODIs and 25 out of 36 T20Is.
