Cricket never fails when it comes to humor. But Trent Boult of New Zealand didn't think it was funny during the initial moments of the latest incident which made fans laugh out loud.

During the second day of the first Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Boult had the ball stuck in his helmet grill. The tailender tried to paddle sweep on off-spinner Lasith Embuldeniya's delivery for a boundary but ended up getting a top edge.

The ball didn't stand up in the air because Boult's helmet came in the way. It got trapped inside his own helmet. Funnily, Boult was running away from Sri Lanka's close-in fielders to avoid a catch. It got even funnier when Sri Lankans actually followed him and finally took the ball out of the grill.

From fans and fielders to commentators everyone laughed about the incident which happened in the 82nd over of the New Zealand innings.

Here is the video:

At the end of first innings of both teams, Sri Lanka took a lead of 18 runs. Kiwis, who batted first had scored 249 which the home side left behind with the help of three half-centuries by Kusal Mendis, Angelo Matthews, and Niroshan Dickwella.

It wouldn't have been possible without an unexpected contribution by tailender Suranga Lakmal who scored a 40 coming to bat at number 9. Sri Lanka ended their first innings with a score of 267.
