India's 2-0 ODI series victory over West Indies saw a couple of tremendous hundreds from skipper Virat Kohli. But there was another man who played a vital role in keeping India in the game and didn't panic after wickets fell to ensure the team kept their grip on. It was the 24-year-old Shreyas Iyer who now has won the trust of his captain.

Iyer stitched up an invaluable partnership of 125 and 120 in the second and third match. After the series win, Kohli's words for the youngster were, "He was brilliant under pressure. You need your game to realize who you are, what your game is, and what kind of a player you are."

Well, the Mumbai-born feels he is made for these kind of tough situations. He trusts his ability and likes to go out and bat in a challenging period of the game.

"I am very happy. I want to come out to bat in this kind of tough situation when everybody in the dressing room is nervous. I love it because the (complexion of the) match can change and anything can happen in the team position," Iyer told Yuzvendra Chahal in an interview on 'Chahal TV' after the third ODI on Wednesday.

Shreyas scored 65 off 41 balls in the third and last T20I. He was sent to bat with India three down on 91. The game was reduced to 35 overs, and apart from wickets, India had to keep an eye on asking rate as well. The well-paced innings ensured less pressure on Kohli and a smooth chase to secure the series.

In his innings, Iyer smashed five maximums. Two off Roston Chase and Fabian Allen and one off Carlos Braithwaite. The Delhi Capitals captain jokingly called it an act of revenge for Chahal being smashed for big hits.

"I have to take revenge of our bowler being hit. He (Pooran) is a fine batsman but since Chahal has been hit I am angry and so will have to take the revenge," Iyer joked.

Asked by Chahal what he had for breakfast before the match, Iyer said, "I did routine and had my breakfast. I ate three eggs."
