The ACC Under-19 final between Nepal and Hong Kong at the Kinrara Oval in Malaysia witnessed a bizarre incident in which the toss had to be redone after the coin failed to land on either side and instead stood upright.

It was a one of a rare incident which has been known to occur in Bollywood’s mega-blockbuster Sholay. The match officials and the umpire couldn’t help but share a laugh after seeing one of its kind turn of events.

During the toss time, Nepal U19 captain spun the coin but it did not land on any of the sides. The coin got stuck into the side of the pitch causing it to stand upright on its edge. The umpire and the match officials along with the two captains in the middle were found clicking pictures of the coin before it was flipped again.

Taking to Twitter, the Asian Cricket Council shared a couple of pictures of the same incident and captioned it with the title, “How often do we see this? The toss in the finals of the #U19ER had to be redone as the coin wouldn't budge either way! #NEPvHK”.

The bizarre coin toss also caught the attention of the ICC Twitter handle.

Coming to the match, Nepal U19 won the contest and clinched the title after registering a comprehensive 6-wicket victory.

After winning the toss in the second attempt, Nepal U19 elected to bowl first and bundled out Hong Kong for a paltry 95 in 43.1 overs. Sagar Dhakal wreaked havoc, claiming figures of 5/18 in his quota of 10 overs that also included five maidens. Nepal U19 overhauled the target in 16.1 overs for the loss of four wickets.
