Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh is about to kickstart a new journey on the field after being picked in the draft of Global Canada T20 League on Thursday (June 20) as the marquee player by Toronto Nationals. The tournament begins in Brampton from July 25 and culminates on August 11.

One of country's greatest ever limited overs cricketers posted a video over Twitter on Saturday (June 23) where he can be heard saying he wishes to use this opportunity to further promote the sport in Canada.

"I am really looking forward to visiting Canada and play in season 2 of the Global T20 tournament," Yuvraj said. "I was impressed with the action last year and I am looking forward to playing with the local Canadians and the international stars. I will do my very best to support cricket in Canada. So, Toronto here I come."

The 37-year-old, while announcing his retirement from international cricket after a 19-year-long career for India almost two weeks back on June 10, also confirmed interest in plying trade across the globe in T20 Leagues.

The Southpaw had written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking permission regarding the same.

"I want to play T20 cricket. At this age, I can manage to play some kind of fun cricket. I want to go and enjoy my life," he was quoted as saying in Mumbai at the time of bidding adieu to international cricket.

"It's been too stressful just thinking about my international career, performing and big tournaments like the IPL."
