Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on Tuesday (June 18) lashed out at media for sensationalizing his liking for Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Akhtar rubbished all sorts of speculations and clarified that he hasn’t even met Sonali in his life. The Rawalpindi Express advised the media outlets to be more responsible with their reporting.

“I haven’t met Sonali Bendre yet. She is a beautiful lady but I wasn’t his fan. I have only seen her in one or two movies.  But I became her fan seeing the way she fought with cancer recently,” Akhtar said.

Shoaib’s clarification came after some media outlets recently published articles, claiming that the Pakistani speedster used to carry a photo of the actress in his wallet during his younger days. Reports also alleged that Akhtar’s room used to be filled with her posters and once, he had brazenly gone on to say that if Sonali rejected his proposal, he would kidnap her.

However, Shoaib brushed aside all such rumours, saying he had only the legendary Imran Khan’s poster in his room.

After clarifying his stance on this matter, Akhtar slammed the Pakistani cricket fans for trolling Shoaib Malik’s wife, Sania Mirza, after Pakistan’s defeat in the World Cup at the hands of arch-rivals India.

He urged the Pakistan fans not to bring players’ families in the discussion while venting out their frustration on social media.
