Pakistan's former and contemporary cricketers lavished praise on Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh for his services to the game as he put an end to a 19-year-long international career on Monday (June 9).
Yuvraj must be extremely pleased to have earned the respect of his opponents, especially the ones across the border because of the fierce rivalry that continues to exist between India and Pakistan.
The southpaw, who helped the country win the 2007 T20 World Cup as well as the 2011 50-over World Cup, played 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is and 40 Tests for the country. He tallied 8701, 1177 and 1900 runs in the three formats respectively.
But Yuvraj's record against Pakistan is especially noteworthy here. He struck 1,360 runs at 42.50, including a ton and 12 fifties, in 38 ODIs versus the neighbours, besides scoring 155 T20I runs in eight games with a best of 72.
Even in his unfulfilled Test career, Yuvraj's best moments came in matches with Pakistan as he struck his maiden Test ton in Lahore on the famous 2004 tour and followed that up with another two in Karachi in 2006 and Bangalore in 2007. He aggregated 572 runs at 63.55 across 7 Tests.
Hence, quite deservingly, on the last day of international career, Yuvraj got an acknowledgement of his greatness by some of his ex-Pakistani counterparts over Twitter.
