Alex Carey scored the fastest fifty by an Australian in World Cups in 25 balls.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked 3/50 | GettyThe 14th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 was played between India and Australia and the encounter proved to be an interesting one. India won the toss and to surprise of some, decided to bat first. Both the teams went in unchanged.

India got a perfect start with a 127-run stand between Rohit Sharma (57) and Shikhar Dhawan (117). Dhawan completed his 3rd World Cup and 17th ODI century in 95 balls. He also added 93 runs with skipper Virat Kohli (82). Hardik Pandya (48 off 27 balls) and MS Dhoni (27 in 14 balls) provided last over impetus as India put up 352/5 on board.

Marcus Stoinis picked 2/62, while Cummins, Starc, and Coulter-Nile picked one wicket each.

Australian innings started off cautiously with 61 runs being added in 14 overs before Aaron Finch fell for 36. Warner made 56 and Steve Smith made 69 and steadily kept Australia close to the required run-rate. Khawaja (42) and Maxwell (28) tried to up the ante and perished in doing so. Bhuvneshwar removed Smith and Stoinis in the same over, while Chahal picked Warner and Maxwell.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah (3/61) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/50) were the best bowlers, while Chahal picked 2 wickets in his 10 overs.

Cricket Fraternity applauded the Indian team for a wonderful win and we have the best tweets for you.
