Pakistan Prime Minister and legendary all-rounder Imran Khan lavished rich praise on Afghanistan cricket team that achieved its first win in Test match cricket on Monday (March 18) against Ireland at Dehradun.

The Asian giants scripted their maiden Test victory in less than two years after they were awarded full member status by International Cricket Council (ICC). Afghanistan is now Test cricket's 11th and fourth quickest winner behind only Australia and equal with England and Pakistan.

The Irish team was bundled out for just 172 and 288 either side of hosts' 314 in the first innings. Afghanistan then chased down the target of 147 runs on Day 4 with only three wickets down.

Wrist-spinner Rashid Khan picked up 5/82 in the second innings to become his country's first bowler with a Test five-fer, while right-handed batsman Rahmat Shah played two very fine knocks of 98 and 76. The two youngsters played massive roles in ensuring a remarkable triumph for their brave nation and its people.

"Congratulations to Afghanistan on their team’s first ever win in test cricket," Imran posted via his official Twitter handle. "The Afghan cricketers have achieved amazing successes in such a short period of their exposure to international cricket."

And later, the same message was given in Urdu and Pashto by him.
