NZ v IND 2019: Mumbai Indians fire shots at Dinesh Karthik for denying strike to Krunal Pandya

Karthik had refused a single to Krunal Pandya in the last over when 14 runs were needed.

India lost their first 3-match T20I series in last 11 contests. They had won 9 and drawn one. It could have been 11 undefeated T20I series in a row for India but it was denied by New Zealand on Sunday. India lost the decider by four runs and that meant a series loss by 1-2.

The game was not completely out of India's grip. They were chasing 213 and the partnership they needed was provided by their top order. However, they faced difficulty from 10th to 15th over where they lose 3 wickets and scored just 37 runs.

In the end, it was all on India's last recognized batting pair Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya. They started from 68 needed off 28 balls and took the equation to a reachable 16 off last over. But the momentum they build didn't work out in the last over.

A moment which became the highlight of the game was when Karthik refused a single to Pandya on the third ball of the over. Krunal had faced Tim Southee earlier and was batting on 25* off 12 balls. But Karthik took it to himself to finish the game, which he failed.

Not only Krunal had faced Southee, but he had also hit him for a six and couple of fours in his previous over.

Fans were disappointed with Karthik. Even Krunal's IPL team Mumbai Indians wasn't pleased. They took a jibe at the 33-year-old and wrote, ".@krunalpandya24 26 not-out from 13 balls and got to face only 1 ball in the final over. ????????‍♂???? Hard luck, KP! ????."
