Indian cricket fraternity wishes the nation on 70th Republic Day

The Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 and hence 26 January is celebrated as Republic Day.

Republic Day parade in New DelhiJanuary 26 is the day India celebrates as its Republic Day. It honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on January 26, 1950. It sees a Republic Day parade being organized by the Ministry of Defense in the capital city of Delhi. The parade showcases India's Defence Capability, Cultural and Social Heritage.

2018 saw President of India Shri. Ramnath Kovind presides over the function with Republic Day parade chief guest President on South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Indian cricket fraternity too was in a patriotic mood and took to Twitter to wish the nation on India’s 70th Republic Day.
