NZ v IND 2019: Twitter astonished after sunlight stops play at McLean Park

Shikhar Dhawan found the sunlight affecting his ability to see the ball properly.

The game between India and New Zealand was stopped and to everyone's surprise, the reason was excessive sunlight. We have heard about the game being interrupted because of rain or bad light, but this time it was too much light which made it hard for the batsman to see the ball.

"The setting sun is directly in the eyes of the batsmen. So we got to consider the safety of the players, umpires. So we have decided to suspend play until conditions improve," umpire Shaun Haug said.

The pitch in McLean Park is faced East-West, unlike the other pitches which are usually is faced North-South.

Indian batsman Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had to walk back to the pavilion and only came back after the sun wasn't a problem.
