Virat Kohli becomes first player to win all the three major ICC awards; Twitter celebrates

Kohli wass also named the captain of both ICC Test and ODI teams.

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli made history as he became the only player to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, as well as the ICC Men's Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards.

No other cricketer has won all the three awards in a single year. The 30-year-old was also named as the captain of both ICC Test and ODI sides.

Kohli deserved it after an outstanding performance with the bat last year. He scored 1,322 runs at an average of 55.08 in 13 Tests with five hundred. In ODIs, he added 1202 runs in 14 matches which included six hundred.

"Not only is Kohli the first player to win these three major ICC awards together but he has also been named the captain of the ICC Test and ODI teams of the year for a fabulous run in international cricket," the ICC said in a statement.
