Former Proteas cricketer Albie Morkel announced his retirement on Wednesday from all forms of cricket. The all-rounder played one Test, 58 One-Day Internationals and 50 T20I matches for his country in eleven-year long career from 2004-2015.

It was a T20I against India when Morkel last played for South Africa in 2015.

The 37-year-old said, "Time has run out for me on the cricket field, and I would like to announce my retirement from the game.

"There are some new opportunities on the horizon, and I'm looking forward to grow into those. I will be enjoying the game from the other side of the rope."

Morkel was part of Chennai Super Kings franchise where he managed to attract the Indian fans. His blistering innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore in which he scored 28 runs off Virat Kohli's one over is considered as one of the top moments of IPL.
