Sanjay Manjrekar blasted for his 2012 tweet where he said Virat Kohli not suited for Tests

Virat had a lukewarm start to his Test career and Manjrekar felt that he should be given just one more chance.

Virat Kohli is the current no.1 ranked test batsman with over 6,000 runs in over 75 Tests Cricket pundit Sanjay Manjrekar has made a habit of getting roasted on Twitter by fans, mostly due to his ill-thought-out tweets and opinions. He has been in constant news for his tweets and fans often take him to task whenever he slips up.

Not only his recent tweets but this time, fans dug up a 2012 tweet of Manjrekar with regards to Virat Kohli and gave him a lashing of the highest order. India had toured Australia in 2011-12 for four-Test series.

The no.1 ranked Test batsman Virat, who now has over 6,000 Test runs in over 75 Tests with 20 centuries to his name, was on his first tour down under. He was coming off a relative lackluster debut in Tests, needing five innings to score his first fifty.

After another of Kohli’s lukewarm performances in the Sydney Test of the series, Sanjay Manjrekar opined that Virat Kohli should only be given one more Test to prove that he doesn’t belong to the Test arena and it would be better to bring in Rohit Sharma in place of VVS Laxman.

"I would still drop VVS & get rohit in for next test. Makes long-term sense. give virat 1 more test..just  to be sure he does not belong here," Manjrekar tweeted.

Sanjay Manjrekar might have forgotten his obscure tweet made six years ago, but the fans never forgot and someone dug up the tweets from his timeline and fans took the former India player to task on his ill-opined advice.
